DIY house renovations

So we have just bought a house! So exciting! Next step is the making the house a home and in this case it is quite a job. Whilst absolutely beautiful, the house hasn't been redecorated for about 15 years- think 90's changing room colour and years of dirt. On top of the aesthetic stuff it needs some proper TLC, there is damp, dodgy electrics etc etc. I thought it might be fun to chart the progress of the house renovations. Our estimated time scale is 2 months for phase 1: the house. Phase 2 is my new studio in the garden- but more on that another time. Below are some pictures of what the house looks like now, sorry they aren't the best photos.

Here we are outside. If you look closely you can see the a brush poking out the chimney, I took this the day the chimney sweeps came to check and clean the fireplaces. So excited we will have working fireplaces! We have some friendly pigeons living in a broken soffet, sorry birdies you will have to move house too.

Here is the master bedroom... with a massive pile of carpet in the middle. We were really pleased to find most of the floor boards in really good condition so we won't have to replace the carpets, instead we will paint the floors.

You can just about see the beautiful original Victorian tiled hall.

Sitting room with amazing fireplace. Sadly the chimney in here isn't in working order at the moment...

Downstairs WC with some serious damp issues.

The garden! About where that shed is will be my new studio!

The beautiful French doors from what will be the playroom into the garden

Here we are in the playroom again, look at that fireplace!

The kitchen. The beautiful range was broken but we've had it fixed and are so pleased we won't have to buy a new one. The rest of this room will be ripped out and the wall taken away opening it up to a big family diner.

And this door will be filled in leaving a round service hatch.

Here we are on the landing looking at a nice and clean carpet!

Remember what I said about 90's paint choices!

Here we are in baby's room.... I can't wait to get cracking on this room!

And the bathroom. It's quite small for a family bathroom so we have decided to make an additional family bathroom and make this a guest bathroom. I have some grand ideas for this re design though... watch this space!

This room will be the new bigger bathroom.
